We recognise the responsibility that we have as key influencers in your child’s development and know how important it is for teachers and parents to present a consistent and coherent approach. We have several mechanisms in place to ensure a constant communication flow. The School Book enables you to converse with your child’s teachers as frequently as you would like; to ask questions and share information about your child’s developments. In addition, each class sends out a Class Bulletin every Friday afternoon to update parents on the happenings of the concluding week, and on the schedule for the week ahead. Finally, twice a year you will be invited to sit down with your child’s teachers for a review of their progress to-date. The discussion is based around a portfolio put together by your childrens’ class teachers to include some photographs, pieces of art work and summaries of their progress against their class’ learning objectives.
Weekly Class Bulletins
Once a week, on a Friday afternoon, parents will receive a copy of their Class Bulletin by email. Summarising the past week’s activities, the Class Bulletin will also include some photos from your child’s class taken during the week. The Bulletin also includes an overview of the schedule for the following week, ensuring our parents are aware of the books, songs and themes that will form the basis of their child’s activities in the week to follow.
Throughout the school year your child’s teachers will contribute on an ongoing basis to the production of a personal portfolio book for your child that details his/her developmental progress through the year, the milestones they have made and showcases some of their pieces of work.
Comments from your child’s teachers will be included detailing how your child tackled certain challenges, the friends that they have made and observations on their development in class. This portfolio will be shared with parents at the close of the second and fourth terms.
Parents will receive two annual reviews from the teachers in June and December each year. A detailed portfolio containing a compilation of your child’s work with observations and assessments will also be provided.
