On Saturday 27th October 2018, families and friends attended the annual UN Day Celebration held at the Bangsar South centre. Observed worldwide on the 24th of October each year, United Nations Day is devoted to sharing the aims and achievements of the United Nations Organisation with the global community.
Advocating the White Lodge Values, “We Celebrate Differences”, “We Respect Our World”, “We Love Learning”, “We Keep it Real” and “We Encourage Imagination”, White Lodge joined the list of several schools throughout the world to celebrate the diversity of our community.
The day started even before the door opened to our bigger community. Our parent volunteers along with teachers from both White Lodge Kindergartens set up booths, prepared the sumptuous spread of snacks and finger food, decorated their tables with the best arrangement, all with the aim to introduce their native countries to other families.
The children open the celebration with a Parade of Nations, as they came dressed in their national costumes and the flag of the country they represented.
With the cheers of everyone, the families dispersed to travel around the world at the end of the parade. Amidst the feasting on international snacks and dishes, the colourful costumes, the exchange of conversations and greetings, grew the pride of belonging to the White Lodge community.
It is through events like these that we continue to bridge the learning for our children and encourage parent involvement in the learning journey of their children. We look forward to continued participation of parents, teachers and others in the community to bring more meaning to the children’s learning. Events like these remind us of the rich heritage that we have inherited from the world and remind us to keep it safe, peaceful and resource-rich for generations to come.
